Welcome to Apex Arena ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using Apex Arena, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and Apple ID authentication details.
• Profile Information: Age, maximum heart rate (if provided), and profile image.
• Battle Information: Battle names, descriptions, participant lists, team assignments, and win conditions you create or participate in.
• Friend Codes: Unique 6-character codes for connecting with friends.
• Communications: Messages you send through our support channels or contact forms.

2.2 Health and Fitness Data

With your explicit permission, we collect health and fitness data from Apple HealthKit, including:

• Workout data (type, duration, start/end times)
• Step count
• Flights climbed
• Active calories burned
• Distance traveled
• Heart rate data (if available)

Important: We never write data to HealthKit. We only read your workout data to calculate battle performance. You can revoke HealthKit access at any time through your iOS Settings.

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers.
• Usage Data: Features used, time spent in app, battle participation, workout sync frequency.
• Performance Data: Crash logs, error reports, and app performance metrics.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not track your precise location
• We do not access your contacts without permission
• We do not read your text messages or phone calls
• We do not collect financial information (payments handled by Apple)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

3.1 Core Service Delivery

• Create and manage your account
• Calculate Apex Points based on your fitness baseline
• Update real-time leaderboards and battle rankings
• Facilitate team battles and friend connections
• Send push notifications about battle updates and rank changes

3.2 Service Improvement

• Analyze usage patterns to improve features
• Develop new features and functionality
• Fix bugs and technical issues
• Optimize app performance

3.3 Communication

• Respond to your questions and support requests
• Send important service announcements
• Notify you of app updates
• Send marketing communications (with your consent, and you can opt out)

3.4 Legal and Safety

• Comply with legal obligations
• Protect against fraud and abuse
• Enforce our Terms of Service
• Resolve disputes

4. How We Share Your Information

4.1 Within Battles

When you participate in a battle, other participants can see:

• Your name and profile image
• Your current score and rank
• Your workout activity (when workouts are logged)
• Your team assignment

Note: Raw workout details (heart rate, specific routes) are never shared. Only aggregated metrics (steps, calories, Apex Points) are visible to battle participants.

4.2 Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the Service:

• Firebase (Google): Cloud hosting, database, authentication, and analytics
• Apple: Push notifications, App Store subscriptions, HealthKit data access
• Analytics Services: To understand app usage and improve performance

These providers are contractually required to keep your data secure and use it only for providing services to us.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to:

• Comply with legal obligations
• Protect our rights or property
• Prevent fraud or abuse
• Protect the safety of users or the public

4.4 Business Transfers

If Apex Arena is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and the choices you may have.

4.5 With Your Consent

We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

• Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
• Access Controls: Limited employee access to personal data, with strict authentication
• Secure Infrastructure: Firebase security rules and authentication
• Regular Audits: Security reviews and vulnerability testing

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy:

• Active Accounts: Data retained while your account is active
• Deleted Accounts: Personal data deleted within 30 days (except data required for legal compliance)
• Battle History: Retained for 12 months after battle completion
• Anonymized Analytics: May be retained indefinitely for research and improvement

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Update

You can access and update most of your information through the app's Profile settings.

7.2 Delete Your Account

You can delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will:

• Permanently delete your profile
• Remove you from all active battles
• Delete your workout data and Apex Points history

Some information may be retained for legal compliance (e.g., transaction records).

7.3 HealthKit Access

You can revoke HealthKit access at any time:

1. Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health
2. Select Apex Arena
3. Toggle off data types you want to revoke

7.4 Push Notifications

You can disable push notifications in iOS Settings → Apex Arena → Notifications.

7.5 Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any marketing email or by adjusting preferences in app settings.

7.6 Do Not Sell My Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

8. Children's Privacy

Apex Arena is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete such information.

9. International Users

Apex Arena is operated in the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used
• Right to delete your personal information
• Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell data)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Sending an in-app notification or email (for material changes)

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

12. Third-Party Services

Apex Arena integrates with third-party services:

• Apple HealthKit: Subject to Apple's privacy policy
• Apple Sign-In: Subject to Apple's privacy policy
• Firebase: Subject to Google's privacy policy

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
